Pasture sage

Artemisia frigida

GIF-Pasture sage

This is a very hairy, silver-gray half-shrub growing from a woody base. It has small yellow flowers that bloom from July to early September. Handling of its leaves releases a distinct odour and it is used in aboriginal ceremonies as a smudge for spiritual cleansing. It will spread with overgrazing.
