Guidelines for Watching Shorebirds
- Watch where you walk. Shorebirds nest on open
beaches in May and June. Nests are often difficult to
see. Respect warnings and private nesting habits.
- Do not disturb or startle birds or other wildlife.
- Stay on the beaten path. Wildlife are more
approachable along trails and tracks.
- Do not touch or handle young birds or animals.
- Wear a hat, sunglasses and water resistant footwear
and outerwear. Use sun protection on exposed skin.
- Bring binoculars, a spotting scope and a camera with
telephoto lens to take best advantage of viewing
opportunities.
- Pets should stay at home.
- Leave with everything you brought. Do not litter.
- Take only pictures and memories!
