Baltic rush

Juncus balticus

GIF-Baltic rush

Baltic rush derives its name from its prevalence along the shores of the Baltic Sea. It is widespread throughout Europe, Asia and North America where the water table is high. Its extensive root system makes it an excellent plant for erosion control. Early pioneer children used this plant to make Daisy chains, and aboriginals weaved baskets and mats from the stems.
