Phlox pungens

- Similar Species: P. kelseyi has soft leaves without thickened midribs or margins. P. multiflora has glabrous leaves and calyces. Other Phlox spp., in Wyoming, have smaller flowers, narrower leaves, or non-glandular flowers.
- Flowering/Fruiting Period: May-June.
- Distribution: Endemic to the Wind River Basin, Wyoming (Fremont Co.).
- Habitat: Sparsely vegetated slopes on sandstone, siltstone, or limestone substrates. Elev. 6000-7400 ft.
