Lycopodium dendroideum

- Similar Species: L. annotinum has mostly unbranched stems and leafy, surface-growing runners. L. complanatum has flattened branches and scalelike leaves. Seedling conifers are taprooted, not rhizomatous.
- Spore-Producing Period: June-July.
- Distribution: Alaska to Newfoundland, south to Washington, NW Montana, Illinois, and Tennessee; disjunct in Black Hills of South Dakota and Wyoming (Crook Co.).
- Habitat: Moist, north-facing white spruce, birch, or hazelnut forests on slopes and benches above streams. Elev. 5100 ft.
