Lycopodium complanatum

- Synonym: Diphasiastrum c.
- Similar Species: L. dendroideum has needle-like leaves in 6-8 rows on rounded branches. L. annotinum has needle-like leaves and stalkless strobili.
- Spore-Producing Period: June-September.
- Distribution: Alaska to Labrador, south to Washington, NW Montana, Minnesota, and New York. Disjunct in Wyoming Black Hills (Crook Co.).
- Habitat: Semi-shady white spruce/paper birch forest, often on mossy, acid-rich soil. Elev. 5400-5600 ft.
