Much like J. compressus, differing mainly as follows: Stamens
nearly reaching the summit of the perianth, the anthers 1.5 mm long, much longer
than the filaments. Capsules ovoid to obovoid, about equaling the perianth.
Jun--Aug. Wet meadows, often where saline; rare or possibly extinct in e ND,
with 2 old collections from Cass and Richland Counties; (Interruptedly circumboreal,
in N.Amer. s along the Atlantic Coast to VA and s along the Pacific Coast to
WA, occasional inland).
