We counted pronghorn in 2 areas in southwestern North Dakota. One area, in Bowman County, was 1,242 km², including about 35% extensive grassland, 55% cultivated land interspersed with grassland, and 10% badland (steep and rugged terrain). The second area, in Slope County, was 2,387 km², including about 65% extensive grassland, 25% mixed cultivation, and 10% badland.
