Wildlife Diversity Contributions Aid Bats and Other Wildlife
Oklahoma's Wildlife Diversity Program assists in managing and protecting this state's bats, as well as more than 800 other species of wildlife. Some of the Program's accomplishments include:
- Placing protective gates over caves used by endangered gray bats.
- Monitoring bat populations and surveying areas containing endangered bats.
- Surveying bat populations in southeastern Oklahoma.
- Re-establishing a nesting population of bald eagles and enhancing viewing
opportunities.
- Establishing bluebird nestbox trails and encouraging citizen involvement.
- Educating the public through outdoor classrooms, public workshops and publications.
