Bats


The family of bats falls under the order Chiroptera, an order of small mammals that have evolved to fly. There are about 850 species of bats worldwide that eat a variety of foods including small vertebrate insects, nectar, and fish. There are nine bat species that can be found in North Dakota including the little brown, long-eared, small-footed, silver-haired, big brown, red, hoary, Keen's, and long-legged species.
