Fire in North American Wetland Ecosystems and Fire-Wildlife Relations: An Annotated Bibliography

47. Conway, R. C. 1938. Marsh burning. Wis. Conserv. Bull. 3:9-10.

A brief, anecdotal account of the effects of marsh fires in Wisconsin is presented. The general conclusions are that the degree to which these fires destroy game cover, food, and game itself depends upon the season, size of the fire, general condition of the marsh, and weather. Spring burns reduce waterfowl resting success. [K-L-S]
