Group B-3 -- Species in group B-3 have hairs that are sclerotized and spine-like. Most of these species are Nymphalidae or Saturniidae.

Group B-3b -- Subgroups: Spines with a multiple tips - Some hairs of the species in subgroup B-3b are modified into scoli with blunt ends. Most of these species are Saturniidae.
