Habitat: A summer stray that is usually found in river bottom areas or on mud flats near Celtis; drinks avidly at mud puddles; is also occasionally encountered at flowers in late summer
Larval food: Celtis occidentalis in most of the normal breeding range
Adult flight: Migratory; brood history is erratic and poorly defined
