Red-disked Alpine (Erebia discoidalis)

  • BND: Red-disked Alpine; Erebia discoidalis (W. Kirby, 1837)
  • BNA: Red-disked Alpine; Erebia discoidalis
  • Habitat: A subarctic species of grassy bogs northward, sandy, grassy barrens southward. One report exists for this species from the Turtle Mountains.
  • Larval food: Canby Bluegrass (Poa canbyi) in Manitoba; not known in ND
  • Adult flight: Probably biennial in northern (subarctic) part of range; flies in May southward, but July at Churchill, Manitoba
