The North American Reporting Center for Amphibian Malformations

The initial design of the Reporting Center was developed by Darren T. Burchill, Suzanne C. Fowle, Douglas H. Johnson, Diane L. Larson, Terry L. Shaffer, and Brian E. Smith. We gratefully acknowledge the considerable advice offered by Heidi Bell, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA); Christine Bishop, Canadian Wildlife Service; Gary S. Casper, Milwaukee Public Museum; Kate Cleary, USGS; Kathryn Converse, USGS; Sam Droege, USGS; Gary Fellers, USGS, Tracy Fredin, Hamline University; Ed Hammer, EPA; Judy Helgen, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA); Michael J. Lannoo, Muncie Center for Medical Education; Michael Mac, USGS; Martin Ouellet, Canadian Wildlife Service; Bruce Pauli, Canadian Wildlife Service; James E. Platz, Creighton University; Stanley Sessions, Hartwick College; Joseph Tietge, EPA; Les Touart, EPA; and David B. Wake, University of California-Berkeley. Photographs of malformed amphibians currently displayed at the Web site were provided by Drew Catron, MPCA; Mark Crowley; Micah Funk; Judy Helgen; Pieter Johnson, Center for Conservation Biology; and Stanley Sessions. Implementation and Web-authoring was done by Darren T. Burchill, Shane C. Erstad, Tim Fletcher, Kristen A. Klimstra, Tracy Koenig, Jack Lawrence, and James Moe. Suzanne C. Fowle designed the logo. She and Jeffrey A. Jundt have coordinated the Reporting Center. Betty R. Euliss assisted both with the Reporting Center and with this report. The national wildlife refuge monitoring program was coordinated by Laura Eaton-Poole and James Mattsson, both of the FWS. The Reporting Center has been funded by the U.S. Geological Survey and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Comments on this report by Sam Droege, Laura Eaton-Poole, Diane L. Larson, James Mattsson, and two anonymous referees were much appreciated.
