Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center
I would like to thank John Sidle and Jerry Kline of the US Forest Service for their interest in and support of the emphasis on the Comanche National Grasslands. In addition to USFS support, funding for this project was provided by the U.S. Geological Survey's Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center, Great Outdoors Colorado program and the Colorado Division of Wildlife, and their support has been essential and is appreciated. I greatly appreciate the efforts of Chuck Loeffler, Tom Nesler and Judy Sheppard of the Colorado Division of Wildlife for their ongoing support of and help with the herpetofaunal survey and telemetry projects. The UNC Research Corporation, particularly Dr. Kyle Carter, Dr. Charles Howard and Mona Worden, have helped administrative aspects run smoothly and have provided additional resources for this project, and their help is appreciated. The work of the field crews (see Appendix 7) has been outstanding and their efforts provided much of the substance of this report; assistance with data processing was provided by Patricia Coulter and Dan Stramel-Jones and is also appreciated. This work has profited greatly from discussions with Dr. David Chiszar, Dr. Hobart M. Smith and Lauren Livo. Finally, the support and assistance of my wife, Dr. Jennifer A. Clarke, is recognized and gratefully acknowledged.
