92. Hulbert, L.C. 1969. Fire and litter effects in undisturbed bluestem prairie in Kansas. Ecology 50:874-877.

Compares response (growth rate, tiller density, and net productivity) of big bluestem to four treatments: burning, clipping and removal of litter, burning the clipped litter an returning the ash, and natural litter (control). Treatment effects on soil temperature and soil moisture are also considered.
