Common size ranges from 10-14 mm. Greenish to reddish brown dorsal coloration is typical. Maculations are complete, and elytra are metallic in reflectance. This species is commonly closely associated with water and is usually found on sandy or loamy stream and riverbanks. It is a summer species, and adults are typically most active from late June through August.
