No Common Name (Cicindela dorsalis [Say])
This beach-dwelling species has a typical body size ranging from 11-15 mm. It has white elytra with greenish-bronze complete maculations making this a striking species. The preferred habitat is open, pristine white sandy Beaches along the Atlantic coast and Chesapeake Bay. This is a summer species with peak activity in July. One subspecies, Cicindela dorsalis dorsalis, the Northeastern Beach Tiger Beetle, is Federally listed as threatened. |
