Body size ranges from 15-18 mm. Dorsal coloration is a striking iridescent reddish to deed red. Elytra, pronotum and head with margins of dark blue, purple or green. Elytral maculations are often absent, but can be present in a reduced state. Preferred habitats are eroded areas. This species is common on eroded grassland hillsides where it can be found using clumps of vegetation for cover. This is a spring/fall species. |
