Body size ranges from 16-21 mm. Dorsal coloration is green or black. Elytral maculations can be reduced or absent although some subspecies with pronounced maculations. Common habitat includes bare or sparsely vegetated, dry, hard-packed soil, typically in previously disturbed areas. This is a summer species with peak adult activity in July.
