This species is between 11 and 13 mm in length. This is a striking beetle, with dorsal colorations from iridescent reddish bronze to iridescent reddish purple. Maculations are either reduced or entirely absent. Commonly found in dry sandy habitats with sparse vegetation such as blowouts, dune swales, and roads. This is a spring/fall species with a 2 year lifecycle.
