Canvasback

Canvasback. -- The highest density strata for canvasbacks are in the parkland region of Canada and in the far north; the Woodworth Study Area is included in the second highest quartile. Although continental numbers of canvasbacks tended to decline during the study period, the Woodworth population increased beginning in the late 1970s (Fig. 12).

GIF - Species Counts

Canvasback counts were not correlated to wetland counts in the Woodworth Study Area. lohnson and Grier (1988) reported r values in the range 0.20 to 0.40 for the Prairie Pothole Region of North Dakota. No weather variables were significantly related with counts of this species or were included in the best model.
