Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center
Snow Goose Population Problem Part III
The Report
The 120-page report is the result of a year's work by leading waterfowl scientists and managers
from the U.S. and Canada. This group of experts was directed to compile and examine scientific
evidence on the overabundance of various populations of geese, then make management
recommendations to the Arctic Goose Joint Venture Management Board (AGJV), an arm of the
North American Waterfowl Management Plan.
The final report is about ready for distribution to waterfowl managers, researchers and
administrators in all levels of government and the private sector in the United States and Canada.
In addition to accepting and endorsing the report, the AGJV is working with the Canadian
Wildlife Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and various states, provinces and flyway councils
to implement the report's recommendations.
