Snow Goose Population Problem Part III
Guiding Principles
Two principles guided the working group's effort. The first was adherence to traditional standards of scientific scrutiny and objectivity; to produce a strong biologically-based report the group wanted to ensure that personal bias and political pressure were left by the wayside.
The second principle was that snow geese are a valuable natural resource - as game birds, as food, and for viewing and aesthetic purposes. Therefore, management actions that would waste birds or not use them for human consumption were not recommended.
