Establishing a Nest Box Program for American Kestrels Along an Interstate Highway

Nest boxes along the interstate rights-of-way have provided nest sites for American Kestrels. Natural cavities for nesting kestrels are scarce throughout much of Iowa's agricultural landscape. In Iowa, this high profile program has provided an avenue for conservationists to foster public awareness of the importance of roadside environments to wildlife.
