III. Proportion of Birds that Attempt to Breed


Three factors affect breeding incidence among waterfowl: 1) the age at which waterfowl become capable of breeding, 2) the timing and length of the breeding season, and 3) the occurrence of breeding among sexually mature birds and of renesting after losing a clutch or brood or after raising a brood.
