Habitat for Grassland Birds
General Results
Seventy-three species of birds were detected within the CRP fields during the
three years. Average densities (pairs per 100 ha) ranged around 100-150, but were
lower in the western counties of Fallen (MT) and Butte (SD) (Table
1). A listing by species and year is given in Table 4
for species with a total count of at least five. Table 5
gives densities, by County and Conservation Practice, for 12 of the most common
species, for which we developed statistical models.
