Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park

Kennesaw, Georgia

Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park was created to commemorate the 1864 Atlanta Campaign. Here, Confederate General Joseph E. Johnson temporarily stopped Union General William T. Sherman's advance from Chattanooga toward the city of Atlanta at the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain. The park's 2,884 acres includes the 1808 foot peak itself and hundreds of acres of largely untouched hardwood/pine forest. It's height and forest acreage also make it very attractive to all birds, but especially to spring and migrants looking for a place to rest and feed during their arduous journey.

Any birds seen which are not on this checklist or are listed as rare or accidental, should be noted in the logbook in the Visitor Center. This checklist covers only the Visitor Center and Kennesaw Mountain itself. We hope you enjoy your visit to Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park.
