All species that have been observed within 50 miles of the St. Louis city limits on two or more occasions since 1940 are listed. Type style of the species name indicates the approximate chance of finding the species in suitable habitat during season(s) of the year when the species is most common:

EXTRABOLD - Fairly common to abundant (>50% chance)
Bold - Uncommon (10-50%)
Normal - Rare (2-10%)
Light italic - Very rare (<2%)

Species names and order are according to the sixth Check-List of North American Birds by the American Ornithologists' Union and supplements through 1997.
