The following list is broken down by season, as follows:

Sp - Spring: March through May
S - Summer: June through August
F - Fall: September through November
W - Winter: December through February

For each species, an abundance code is included under each season. This is a general guide to the likelihood of seeing the species during that particular season. Abundance codes are as follows:

c - common: strong likelihood of seeing the species during the season
u - uncommon: good possibility of seeing the species during the season, but numbers are low due to habitat limitations
o - occasional: usually one or two present during the season; or absent one year during the season and fairly easy to find another year
r - rare: difficult to find; unlikely to be found regularly

Species that breed in the Monument are indicated by an '*' following the species name.
