Muleshoe National Wildlife Refuge

Muleshoe, Texas

Muleshoe National Wildlife Refuge is an important wintering area for ducks, Canada geese and sandhill cranes. During wet years, the refuge's playa lakes have hosted thousands of waterfowl and sandhill cranes. The cranes usually begin arriving in late September and remain on the refuge until the end of March, creating some of the largest concentrations of lesser sandhill cranes in the United States.

This list contains 282 species which have been observed on the refuge since 1935. Species are listed in accordance with the sixth edition (1983) A.O.U. checklist.
