Little River National Wildlife Refuge

small state map showing location

Broken Bow, Oklahoma

The 15,000 acres that comprises Little River National Wildlife Refuge includes important habitat types which support a great diversity of mammalian species. Although much of the Refuge is low, swampy, forested, bottomland habitat, such habitat is extremely productive biologically, and there are many upland areas that enhance the biodiversity of the Refuge.

More secretive species included on this list such as some of the bats, have not been definitely documented as occurring on the Refuge, but it is within their range and there is suitable habitat to support these species.

This list is intended to inform Refuge visitors regarding species that occur or probably occur on the Refuge. Information concerning additional sightings should be reported to the Refuge Manger.
