It has been many years since a comprehensive check-list of Portland's birds has been available. James Davis, PAS Education Director, worked with other experienced local ornithologists to develop this useful aid to Tri-County birding. This check-list will also be sold at the Audubon House Bookstore. Happy birding!

The greater Portland area, not including Sauvie Island

c - common: seldom missed in proper habitat
u - uncommon: usually present in proper habitat but may not always be seen; may be present in low numbers
i - irregular: hard to predict, may vary considerably from year to year; may be regularly present but very secretive
r - rare: only a few individuals seen in any year; may be several years with no sightings
