Breeding Birds of North Dakota

White-winged junco (Junco hyemalis aikeni (Ridgway))

Breeding Range. Hypothetical. On July 28, 1969, several juncos were observed in the ponderosa pine area of Slope County near the Burning Coal Vein by Lewis W. Oring. The date of this record would suggest possible breeding status for the White-winged Junco, since this variety of junco is the only one that might be expected to occur in this area during the summer.
