Breeding Birds of North Dakota

Lesser goldfinch (Carduelis psaltria (Say))

Breeding Range. Hypothetical. The probability that the Lesser Goldfinch may occur as an accidental breeding species in North Dakota is suggested by the following observations:

August 20-24, 1954--At Kenmare in Ward County, a pair was observed on August 20; and during August 22-24, a male was seen and heard frequently and on three occasions was observed feeding what appeared to be an immature bird (R. T. and A. M. Gammell).
