Breeding Range. Hypothetical. According to Adrian C. Fox, this species has been found nesting at Dickinson. Scattered records of adults during the breeding season also suggest the probability of breeding status. These records are listed as follows:

Summers of 1938 and 1939--Recorded at Dickinson by R. W. Smith.

May 31 and July-August 1943--One at Rock Lake in Towner County (Aud. Mag., July-August 1943, Sec. 2).
June 1-2, 1943--Recorded at Minot State Teachers College at Minot (E. A. Hibbard).
June 3, 1943--One banded at Wilton in McLean County (Stevens 1948).
July 21-28, 1946--One at Fargo (Stevens 1947).
June 1-2, 1948--A pair at Minot State Teachers College at Minot (S. Saugstad).
June 1-14, 1952--One on a farm six miles south of Kenmare in Ward County (R. T. and A. M. Gammell).
June 8, 1952--Recorded at Bismarck (R. N. Randall).
June 13, 1965--One at Fargo (Mrs. F. B. Scheel).
June 1966--One reported in Griggs County about 3 miles east of Binford (RES).
July 14, 1966--A singing male in Richland County about 2 miles northwest of Hankinson (RES).
June 20, 1967--An adult observed in Bowman County about 8 miles south of Rhame (RES).
June 4, 1972--A singing adult recorded in Stutsman County about 4 miles east-southeast of Jamestown (M. L. Avery).
