Breeding Range. Hypothetical. A few scattered records of adults during the breeding season suggest that this species may breed occasionally in the state. These records are as follows:

June 28-July 1, 1873--One at Big Muddy Creek [probably near Almont] in Morton County (Allen 1874).
July 25-29, 1930--One in Stutsman County (Johnson 1931).
June 24, 1934--One recorded along Sheyenne River at Harwood in Cass County (Monson 1934).
1961--Reported as an occasional summer resident in northwestern North Dakota in an area that encompasses Burke, Renville, and Ward Counties (Gammell and Gammell 1962).
May 24, June 1 and June 17, 1964--Recorded at Fargo (North Dakota State University Museum Catalog).
July 3, 1964--One along Sheyenne River in Richland County, about 6 miles south of Leonard (RES).
May 27, 1966--One along James River at Jamestown (C. Cink).
June 27, 1967--One along Heart River in Stark County (R. L. Kroodsma).
June 17, 1973--One singing adult recorded in McKenzie County within the north unit of Roosevelt National Park (C. S. Robbins).
