Breeding Birds of North Dakota

Cinnamon teal (Anas cyanoptera (Vieillot))

Breeding Range. (Fig.26). Hypothetical. Definite records of nests or broods are lacking. However, the scattered, sporadic records of pairs or lone males during the waterfowl breeding season indicate that this species probably nests occasionally on the Northwestern Drift Plain, Missouri Coteau, and Coteau Slope, and possibly in the Agassiz Lake Plain Region and on the Northeastern Drift Plain, Southern Drift Plain, and Little Missouri Slope.

Five of the records referred to have been published; these include one in Kidder County (Oberholser 1918b), one in Morton County and one in Towner County (Wood 1923), and two in Stutsman County (Klett and Lokemoen 1968).
