Orthosia hibisci [Noctuidae]
Light green with small white spots; white dorsal, subdorsal, and spiracular longitudinal lines; green head. This caterpillar is very common on many broadleaf trees and shrubs such as red stem osier, ninebark, and species of Ceanothus during June and July. It is similar in appearance to Lithophane amanda and Cosmia calami. These three species differ in the appearance of the dorsal, subdorsal, and spiracular longitudinal lines as well as the white granulations on the body.
