Coloradia pandora [Saturniidae]

Dark brown with white spots and light yellow transverse bands at the posterior of each segment; middorsal, subdorsal and lateral white longitudinal dashed bands. This species is common on conifers, in particular ponderosa pine upon which it may be a pest. It is present in the late summer and overwinters, completing development in June. Pupae remain in the soil for one year.
