Spilosoma virginica [Arctiidae]

Long white hairs; short white and orange hairs; colors uniformly dispersed over body except for lateral region of A4-A6 where hairs appear white. This caterpillar is common on herbs such as dandelion and Queen Anne's lace. It is present in fall and overwinters, completing development by June or July. A second generation occurs during summer.
