Hyphantria cunea [Arctiidae]
Long white hairs originate from red spots on a black body with yellow markings. The communal caterpillars form large silk tents on the branches of broadleaf trees. This caterpillar is very common on numerous plants, in particular willow, alder, and black cottonwood, during August and September.
