Group B-2 -- The body of species in group B-2 is covered with dense patches of hairs, at least seven per segment per side above the spiracular line. Species are grouped by the location of dense hair patches and the length of hairs. Among the numerous families that fit the description of this group are Arctiidae, Hesperiidae, Lasiocampidae, Lycaenidae, Lymantriidae, some Noctuidae, and Satyridae.
Group B-2b -- Subgroups: Hairs very short - Species in group B-2b have hairs that are very short, whisker-like, sometimes barely visible.
