North Dakota Chapter of The Wildlife Society
Announces Annual Award Recipients

The North Dakota Chapter of The Wildlife Society held its annual meeting banquet in Grand Forks on February 14, 2002. The Chapter is a statewide organization of over 300 wildlife professionals. Its mission is to provide a forum for discussion of ecological issues among natural resource professionals: to enable its membership to pursue conservation of North Dakota's natural resources; and to provide scientifically sound information concerning the wise use of natural resources in support of a conservation land ethic. Awards were presented by Chapter President, Tim Phalen.

North Dakota Award: The prestigious North Dakota Award is presented annually to a wildlife professional that has made outstanding contributions over the course of their careers. This year it was awarded to Raymond Greenwood of Jamestown, ND. Ray retired from Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center in 1998.after more than 32 years of service to the natural resource and wildlife profession in North Dakota. Ray developed extensive expertise in the areas of waterfowl nesting ecology in relation to the evolving predator communities in North Dakota and the Northern Great Plains. He is currently an emeritus member of the research staff at Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center and continues to have a positive influence on natural resource conservation in North Dakota.   Ray Greenwood excepting the North Dakota Award from Tim Phalen
