Kantrud Among Honorees at Banquet
Article taken from The Jamestown Sun, Friday, March 9, 2001Harold Kantrud of Jamestown was among the honorees at the North Dakota Chapter of the Wildlife Society's annual awards banquet held last month in Mandan.
Kantrud retired from the Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center in 1997 after more than 33 years of service. Some of his most influential research has been on plant and bird communities. He is currently an emeritus member of the research staff at Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center and continues to have a positive influence on natural resource conservation in North Dakota.
The North Dakota Game Warden Association received the 2001 Habitat Award for its efforts to acquire and conserve native forest land in the state. It has contributed more than $12,000 in recent years for such acquisitions.
Ken Skuza of Kenmare and Gerald Meier of Minot were presented the Charles V. Pulver Memorial Law Enforcement Case of the Year Award for their investigation and the eventual conviction of offenders in a multi-year deer poaching case.
