Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center

Website Progress

Increasing electronic access to biological information, with emphasis on the northern Great Plains, continued as a high priority activity for the Center. Sixty biological resources were added to the Northern Prairie home page ( http://www.npwrc.usgs.gov), raising the total number of available resources to 265. An additional 30 resources received major updates during the course of the year. Major improvements to the Web site's search facility were accomplished, making it easier than ever for biologists, managers, and the public to locate information on a particular topic. Northern Prairie's home page was the recipient of numerous awards and the subject of three CNN News features. Development of the Center's Web site was fueled by a staff of eight individuals, mostly biology students from the local college, working anywhere from 15-40 hours per week. The Center continued its assistance to other organizations by maintaining Web sites for the Great Plains International Data Network (http://www.greatplains.org/), North Dakota Natural Science Society (http://www.npwrc.usgs.gov/ndnss/), and the The Wildlife Society's Biometrics Working Group ( http://www.npwrc.usgs.gov/bwg/).
